Warts Genital
Genital Warts are warts that grow on the genital region or women and men.
What Do They Look Like?
Genital warts vary in appearance but in general they either cauliflower shaped lumps, or pearly lumps. The wart sizes range from small to large. You may also only have one wart or you may have clusters of warts. If you notice that you have a lump on your penis or vagina that looks like a normal wart, then the chances are that you have genital warts. The warts are usually flesh colored but they may also have a white or pinkish tinge. Some have a dark tinge.
How Did I Get Genital Warts?
Genital warts are caused by a virus called Human Papillomavirus. It is also referred to as HPV. There are many different strains or types of the HPV virus and only a few of them will cause genital warts. Other strains of this virus are also responsible for the warts that you develop on your hands, and other body parts.
HPV is a very contagious virus and you can contract it through skin to skin contact. For this reason even if you practice protected sex, you still may contract HPV. Not everyone that has HPV also has genital warts.
